Do I need any dance experience?
You don’t need to know any dance moves ahead of time. The aim is to teach you simple and easy dance moves that’ll have your first dance looking amazing.
What if we’ve never danced before?
Chase Dance will guide you through every step of the way and at a pace that’s comfortable for you. With years of experience teaching wedding dance lessons, it’ll be an easy and stress free activity you can both enjoy, so you don’t have to know any other dance styles beforehand.
When should we start our bridal lessons?
Depending on what wedding dance package you choose, Chase Dance recommends you start your lessons 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding date. This gives you time to practice before the wedding day, without feeling stressed or rushed. If your wedding is much closer, don’t worry! We also have a Just The Basics wedding dance package that will have you dancing confidently in no time.
What happens during the bridal dance lessons?
Firstly, you will learn how to lead and follow your partner and the roles each individual plays. Secondly, you’ll be taught how to dance on the beat to your chosen wedding song. Thirdly, you’ll be shown a couple of popular basic moves and how to join them together.
Your wedding song will be introduced, so that the speed of the movement matches the song of your choice. Now you’re dancing! These moves can be used continuously throughout your first song and can be developed into a mini choreography to suit you and your partner.
If I’m not 100% sure, can I pay for one trial lesson?
Of course, you can! You don’t have to know exactly how many lessons you’ll need. The Just The Basics wedding dance package will have you grinning from ear to ear, with an awesome set of base moves that can be danced with ease to any wedding song.
Do I need to book and pay in advance?
Yes, prepayment for wedding dance lessons is essential. After consulting with Chase Dance to select the wedding dance package that’s right for you, make prepayment via the website and a confirmation email will be sent out to you confirming all details.
What if I miss a lesson?
We have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy which is non-refundable. If you’re unable to make it or change your mind, we cannot issue you with a refund. If sickness or injury prevents you from attending the lesson, please advise Chase Dance as soon as possible so we can determine if you may receive a refund.
What do I wear?
Something that allows you to move, stretch and feel comfortable in. Shoes which are like the ones you’ll be wearing on the day, so you can wear them in and get comfortable and balanced. You’ll be spinning and turning, so shoes without rubber soles is preferable; avoid sneakers. For wedding dress preparation, a similar flow and style of dress or skirt is preferable.
Do I need to bring anything?
Bring a water bottle and mobile phone to film the moves you’ll learn that lesson. Having both the bride and groom’s shoes that you’ll be wearing on the day or similar, will help you practice what it’s going to feel like for both of you when you dance your first dance.
Can we have more than one lesson in a week?
Yes, of course! Often in the last two weeks before the wedding day, bridal couples like to have a lesson or two to calm the nerves. This helps them to feel confident in remembering the dance so they can relax and enjoy the day.
What do we do about the music?
Chase Dance will always have your chosen song ready and prepped for the lesson, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. If you don’t know or haven’t decided on your wedding song, Chase Dance has many playlists which include popular favourites and many loves songs to help you choose the right song for you.
What if the song’s too fast?
An easy way of assessing the speed of your wedding song would be to count the beats per minute (BPM). Click here for what Chase Dance uses which helps us separate which wedding songs are slow, medium, or fast. Our regularly curated playlists can be found on Spotify.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes we do! A wedding dance gift voucher is a thoughtful gift for engagement parties, birthdays, Valentine’s Day or for family and friends who are getting married.
